Course Objectives
Managing Successful Programmes (MSP®) was developed as a best practice guide to program management. The foundation course provides participants with a solid understanding of MSP concepts. The Foundation Certification is also a prerequisite for the Practitioner Certification.
Managing Successful Programmes – MSP® provides a framework to break down large, complex change projects into manageable, inter-related sub-projects. It highlights tactics of managing key resources of any project, including time, money, manpower etc.
The training is a scenario-based course focusing on the application of MSP® under different program environments and scenarios. Review and revision sessions of all MSP® elements are included throughout the training.
MSP® is highly suitable for business transformation and political/societal change, because it is an approach designed to accommodate high levels of complexity, ambiguity and risk.

There are no specific pre-requisites for Foundation. Some appreciation of the ideas and principles of services may be useful to provide context.
Candidates seeking to attain the MSP® Practitioner Certification must have previously attained the MSP® Foundation Certification.

MSP® Practitioner is designed for project, programme and business change managers who
want to apply the MSP framework to real-life scenarios
- Self-paced eLearning course (12 month expiry)
- Online examination accessible 24 hours a day, 7 days per week (12-month expiry).
Instructor-led sessions can be provided in both face-to-face and virtual settings.
The course is typically a 5 day course depending on the learning needs of the cohort.
In the Foundation course:
- Understand key concepts relating to programmes and MSP®
- Understand the MSP® processes and how they are carried out throughout the programme
- Understand the MSP® themes and how they are applied throughout the programme
- Understand how the MSP® principles in context underpin the MSP® framework
In the Practitioner course:
- Understand how to apply the MSP® principles in context
- Understand how to apply and tailor relevant aspects of the MSP® themes in context
- Understand how to apply and tailor relevant aspects of the MSP® processes
Foundation Course
- Closed book – 60 multiple choice
- 60 minutes duration
- Pass mark = 36 out of 60 (60%)
Practitioner Course
- Open book – 70 scenario questions
- 2 hours 30 minutes duration
- Pass mark = 42 out of 70 (60%)
Successful completion of the exam will enable students to receive their certificate direct from PeopleCert.
