PMI-SP® Scheduling Professional® Examination Preparation

Course Objectives

This preparation workshop for the PMI Scheduling Professional (PMI-SP®) Certification Examination will provide candidates with the applicable planning and scheduling knowledge to pass the exam on the first attempt. It also includes the practical training for Primavera P6 and the application of scheduling concepts using the Primavera P6 project management software. The examination for the PMI-SP® credential covers a defined knowledge base outlined in the PMI-SP® Exam Specification and not just the Practice Standard for Scheduling provided by PMI® (although this is the basis of the certification and exam). This course covers the full spectrum of project scheduling knowledge required to achieve success in the PMI-SP® exam, supported by PMI-SP® exam-style questions.

  • Facilitates achievement of important PMI-SP® Certification which demonstrates that "an individual has more competence in the specialised area of developing and maintaining the project schedule than a general practitioner, yet also maintains a basic level of competence in all areas of project management."
  • A PMI-SP® certified individual will become competent to build and maintain project schedules along with hands-on experience in the planning, development, maintenance, analysis, communication, and reporting of project schedules.
  • Employers can trust credential holders to possess the skills, knowledge and experience to contribute directly to their crucial projects.
  • Organisations can be confident in hiring capable experienced practitioners as well as having a means for a career development path.
  • Provides a framework of information through references and proprietary materials to allow participants to acquire the PMI® specific knowledge required to pass the examination.
  • Provides a structured framework to test participant's knowledge on a progressive basis against PMI-SP® examination standards - they will answer exam-style questions.
  • Gives added experience in using software tool Primavera P6.
  • One-on-one feedback regarding performance in each domain to allow focus on areas requiring improvement.
  • Assists with registration for the PMI® examination.
  • Assists with assessing and completing the experience section of the examination application.
  • Provides on-going support through to examination.

PMI-SP® Eligibility requirements

To be eligible for the PMI-SP® credential, candidates must meet certain educational and professional experience requirements. All project scheduling experience must have been accrued within the last five consecutive years prior to submitting an application.

Educational background, project scheduling experience & education

  • Secondary degree (high school diploma, associate's degree or global equivalent) with at least 5,000 hours spent in the specialised area of professional project scheduling within the last five consecutive years and
  • 40 contact hours of formal education in the specialised area of project scheduling*, or
  • Four-year degree (bachelor's degree or global equivalent) with at least 3,500 hours spent in the specialised area of professional project scheduling within the last five consecutive years and
  • 30 contact hours of formal education in the specialised area of project scheduling*.

*PMI accepts hours spent in training for Microsoft® Project and for other scheduling tools.
