Course Objectives

This two (2) day course covers the performance outcome, skills and knowledge required to successfully manage performance in an organisation. Today’s global market emphasises the need for managers to evaluate employee performance and to mentor and coach talents.

This course provides an insight into contemporary performance management theories and talent management assumptions. It offers a practical approach for appraising performance to achieve organisation goals.

Delivery Strategy

This two (2) day course has been designed by our senior trainers who combine industry experience with academic excellence.

Participants will also receive a state-of-the-art student manual with all reference materials, PowerPoint presentations and activities.

Program Outline

Day One

Develop KPIs into integrated Performance Management System (PMS)

  • Discuss critical success factors (CSF) and key performance indicators (KPI).
  • Align KPIs to Performance Management System (PMS).
  • Translate KPIs into performance standards and explain the formula.
  • Use measures for performance standards.
  • Activities throughout the module.

The management role in the performance management cycle

  • Inform employees of KPIs and set expectations.
  • How to negotiate a learning contract based on KPIs.
  • How to provide effective feedback utilising situational leadership.
  • Encourage learning and high performance through self-motivation and empowerment.

Day Two

Monitor and review performance based on agreed standards

  • Identify monitoring performance tools and processes.
  • Empower people to self-monitor and analyse performance.
  • Gap analysis tool and stages of coaching.
  • Deal with personal biases.
  • Activities throughout the module.

Appraise Individual performance

  • Prepare for the appraisal discussion.
  • Conduct the appraisal and celebrate winning.
  • Reward performance and align to succession plan.
  • Dealing with underperformance and difficult situations.
  • Activities throughout the module.
  • Final assessment.
