Course Objectives

This one (1) day course covers the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to successfully prepare and conduct an interview.

The purpose of this course is to equip the participants with the skills required to conduct a first interview with candidates, prior to sending potential candidates to the line managers.

  • Identify different interviewing techniques.
  • Prepare for the interview.
  • Develop the interview guide.

Conduct an interview based on key selection criteria

  • Prepare the interview venue.
  • Ask inclusive questions that are related to the competencies.
  • Provide opportunities to answer and clarify information.
  • Ensure self-esteem is maintained and interviewee is relaxed.
  • Evaluate candidates based on selection criteria.
  • Activities throughout the module.

Produce candidate evaluation report (evidence-based)

  • Use a rating scale system to make an informed decision on the short list.
  • Produce an objective report based on each candidate.
  • Organise a second interview and reference check if applicable.
  • Activities throughout module.
