Course Objectives

This one (1) day course is designed equip students with the skills and knowledge required to design and produce various business documents and publications.

Learning Outcomes

Upon completion of this course, students will be able to:

  1. Identify a variety of business documents and understand their use
  2. Select appropriate technology and software programs for business document production
  3. Select appropriate layouts and styles according to the recipient, the information and organisational requirements
  4. Identify, open, design, generate and store documents according to task and organisational requirements
  5. Apply a range of functions to ensure consistency of business documents
  6. Complete documents production within designated time lines according to organisational requirements
  7. Check documents produced to ensure it meets task requirements for style and layout
  8. Store documents appropriately and save document to avoid loss of data
  9. Proofread document for readability, accuracy and consistency in language, style and layout prior to final output
  10. Make any modifications to document to meet requirements
  11. Name and store document in accordance with organisational requirements
  12. Print and present document according to requirements

  • Understand the differences between documents and identify what type of document to use in a variety of situations
  • Understand the resources involved with the production of business documents
  • Understand the importance of planning prior to document production
  • Identify what resources are needed for document production prior to undertaking the task
  • Identify the common layouts and styles of business documents
  • Apply a variety of layouts and styles to business documents, taking in to account the recipient
  • Understand the steps involved in opening complex documents
  • Identify the importance to stakeholders of consistency in business documents
  • Learn the importance of sticking to deadlines when producing documents
  • Understand the importance of proof reading and double checking documents
  • Consider the importance of storing documents and the different methods for doing so
  • Consider organisational requirements when storing documents
  • Understand the steps involved with printing and presenting business documents
