M_o_R® - Management of Risk Practitioner

Course Overview

This course will cover the four core concepts: M_o_R principles; approach; processes; and embedding and review. It incorporates all the activities required to identify and control the exposure to risk which may have an impact, positive or negative on the achievement of an organisation's business objectives.

The purpose of the Practitioner level certification is to confirm whether the candidate has achieved sufficient understanding of how to apply and tailor M_o_R in a scenario situation.

This course comprises two days of trainer-led instruction, and practical exercises, and the Practitioner examination.

Course Objectives

This course will enable candidates to:

  • Understand the key principles underpinning the effective management of risk;
  • Apply the main components of the risk management process;
  • Appreciate how to manage risks at the strategic, programme, project and operational level;
  • Utilise a range of techniques that can be used to support the management of risk process.

Audience

  • Any organisation or individual seeing the need for guidance on a controlled approach to identifying, analysing and managing risk at strategic, programme, project and operational levels.

Prerequisites

Some exposure to risk management would be useful. Candidates for the Practitioner exam must have passed the Foundation level exam.

Delivery Strategy

The course has been structured to be delivered over two (2) interactive days and will be led by our experienced trainers. Participants will receive a student workbook that includes a series of theories and models, accompanying information, additional reading, written activities, reflective tasks and PowerPoint slides.

Exam Format

The M_o_R Practitioner exam is a 3-hour objective testing open book (M_o_R Manual only) exam. There will be 4 questions and 80 question items, each worth 1 mark for a total of 80 marks.  You must get at least 40 of the 80 question items correct to pass.

Note: Homework and evening study is highly recommended to prepare for the exam.

Institute of Management is an APMG-International Accredited Training Organisation and will conduct the exam on behalf of APMG.
