Course Overview

This course will cover the four core concepts: M_o_R principles; approach; processes; and embedding and review. It incorporates all the activities required to identify and control the exposure to risk which may have an impact, positive or negative on the achievement of an organisation's business objectives.

The purpose of the foundation level certification is to confirm that a candidate is able to demonstrate a knowledge and comprehension of the four elements and how they support corporate governance.

This course comprises three days of trainer-led instruction, practical exercises and the Foundation examination.

Course Objectives

This course will enable candidates to:

  • Know the key principles underpinning the effective management of risk
  • Understand how the main components of the risk management process are used
  • Appreciate how to manage risks at the strategic, programme, project and operational level
  • Identify a range of techniques that can be used to support the management of risk process.

Audience

  • Any organisation or individual needing guidance on a controlled approach to identify, analyse and manage risk at strategic, programme, project and operational levels.

Prerequisites

There are no prerequisites for this course; however some exposure to risk management would be useful.

Delivery Strategy

The course has been structured to be delivered over three (3) interactive days and will be led by our experienced trainers. Participants will receive a student workbook that includes a series of theories and models, accompanying information, additional reading, written activities, reflective tasks and PowerPoint slides.

Exam Format

The Practitioner exam is a 3 hour objective testing open book (M_o_R Manual only) exam. There will be 4 questions and 80 question items, each worth 1 mark for a total of 80 marks. You must get at least 40 of the 80 question items correct to pass.

Note: Homework and evening study is highly recommended to prepare for the exam.
Institute of Management is an APMG-International Accredited Training Organisation and will conduct the exam on behalf of APMG.

The Foundation exam is a 60-minute closed book, multiple choice exam. You must get at least 35 of the 70 questions correct to pass.
