Course Objective

This qualification reflects the role of individuals who apply specialised knowledge and skills, together with experience in program management across a range of enterprise and industry contexts. It applies to individuals who are program managers, managing or directing a suite of projects (a program) to achieve organisational objectives.

Individuals at this level use initiative and judgement to direct, plan, and lead a range of program functions, with accountability for personal and team outcomes within broad parameters.

This course will provide candidates with a solid foundation across the program management discipline. The six-day training program is structured around developing cognitive and communication skills to identify, analyse and synthesise information from a variety of sources; transferring knowledge to others, and developing creative or conceptual skills to express ideas and perspectives or respond to complex problems.

Entry Requirements

Entry to this qualification is limited to those who:

Have completed a Diploma of Project Management qualification.

or

Have completed two years equivalent full-time relevant workplace experience at a significant level within a project or program environment within an enterprise.

Audience Delivery Strategy

The course will be delivered over six (6) days in total, split between two sessions of three days each and will be facilitated by our experienced trainers.

Each session contains a participant workbook that includes a copy of all material presented, an assessment workbook for capturing initial notes and understanding of formal assessments criteria, resource summary reading materials, and a copy of all the training packages.

Program Duration

We offer students up to 12 months to complete the Institute of Management BSB61215 - Advanced Diploma of Program Management qualification. The course can be completed earlier depending on experience and recognition of prior learning.

RPL and Credit Transfer

Institute of Management can formally recognise a student's existing level of skills and knowledge in two ways:

  • recognition of prior learning (RPL)
  • credit transfer

After completing this qualification candidates will be able to:

  • Use evaluation skills to measure and assess program benefits performance
  • Implement a monitoring, evaluation and reporting program
  • Develop a change management project plan for the priority changes incorporating resource requirements, risk management and timelines
  • Demonstrate environment scanning techniques to identify opportunities for collaboration
  • Implement environment and performance evaluation skills to monitor and respond to changed circumstances
  • Respond effectively to risk within complex programs that are subject to unpredictable contextual pressures
  • Model leadership skills to lead a program, and embed confidence, trust, ethical and sustainable practices in an enterprise program
  • Analyse current and future contract requirements, and monitor resource use, cost efficiency and effectiveness against contractual obligations
  • Conduct market analysis, development and costing of options, and justification for a recommended business solution

Assessment requirements

The objective of the assessment process is to help students consolidate and build on the formal learning delivery of the Advanced Diploma of Program Management course, through the application of learning into their current or future work role.

These assessments are designed to cover a range of skills and knowledge required to demonstrate achievement of the course objectives. Our aim is to collect workplace documentation evidence for the management of program delivery, case studies or, where available, real situations in a variety of contexts and situations.

Requirements to receive the qualification

This course requires the completion of twelve (12) units of competency made up of 4 core units and 8 elective units, which contain the prescribed employability skills.
